The process involved presenting the rough cut in a critique in front of the class, receiving suggestions from the class about changes to improve the video, and presenting it again as a final cut in a critique where the class will provide feedback one last time.

Last semester this assignment was the last assignment of the semester and the students complained that they couldn’t reshoot anything because the student-athletes already finished the season.

SOLUTION:

I moved the Motivational video to the second video project of the semester finishing the videos one month before the end of the semester.

Below you will find the submissions of the five groups.

I don’t think that the change was successful, in terms of better resubmissions as final cuts. There are several circumstances that also affected the development of the class as a team. This semester the students achieved the goals of the course slightly later than in previous sections of this course. The presence of several student-athletes in their 5 and 6 years of academic careers changed the demeanor of the group. Have of the teams, wanted to do their projects on their own terms without paying too much attention to the feedback of the class.

Also, last semester they had one week between the rough cut and the final cut while this semester they just have 48 hours to change their videos.

Possible solutions to explore in the future are to add at least one more class day between the rough cut and final cut and enforce a written reflection on the changes they need to perform in the resubmissions.
